Whatever the era of your home…Stay true to its roots. If you have a vintage home with a “pink tile bathroom” and it is of quality materials…keep it and enhance it. If there are architectural or interior design elements that are good quality and are of the era of the home don’t tear them out just because they don’t fit today’s fashion. Of course, not every home is a candidate for authentic preservation but if you have one be careful in any renovation project you undertake. Start your research by looking at examples of the style in old magazines online or design books. As they say on Antique Roadshow…don’t polish the patina off because it ruins the value!
